Fine structure of meiotic prophase chromosomes and modified synaptonemal complexes in diploid and triploid Rhoeo spathacea.
The synaptonemal complex (SC) in the diploid Rhoeo consists of 2 amorphous lateral elements, each about 46.0 nm thick, and one amorphous central element about 30.0 nm thick. The central region is about 115.0 nm wide. SC in the triploid have essentially the same dimensions as those of the diploid; both lateral (46.0 nm) and central (30.0 nm) elements are amorphous, and the central region is abou...
متن کاملDe novo translocation heterozygote with three reciprocal translocations.
An extremely rare case of a child with three balanced reciprocal translocations involving six different autosomes is described. These abnormalities have apparently arisen de novo and seem to have only relatively minor phenotypic effects. The meiotic possibilities are discussed and cytogenetic markers suggest that the damage may have occurred in a paternal gamete.
متن کاملchromosome pairing and heterozygote translocation in oltan cotton cultivar and its crossing progenies
a cytogenetic study was performed on 11 tetraploid cotton cultivars (gossypium hirsutum l.)including the oltan cultivar and its crossing progenies. the chromosome pairing and chiasma frequency, aswell as meiotic abnormalities were compared among the genotypes studied. heterozygote translocations withalternate orientation were observed between some of the chromosomes of the a genome and those of...
متن کاملProtein polymorphism and genic heterozygosity in a population of the permanent translocation heterozygote, Oenothera biennis.
Genic allozyme polymorphism and heterozygosity was studied in a large population of the evening primrose, Oenothera biennis, growing in North Haven, Connecticut. This species is a permanent structural heterozygote for the entire complement of 14 chromosomes, and is thus capable of accumulating and maintaining genic heterozygosity. A total of 11 protein species were examined, and these were judg...
متن کاملA Genetic Study of Segregation in a Translocation Heterozygote in Drosophila.
URING meiosis, homologous chromosomes normally pair with each other and separate whereas the members of pairs of non-homologous chromosomes assort independently of one another. This behavior is disturbed, however, in individuals carrying a translocation. It is well known that a t the first meiotic division separation of the four components of a translocation configuration may take place in a nu...
